Over 150 applicants rehoused into Clarion Housing Group homes

rehoused

Clarion Housing Group, the largest housing association in the UK, partnered with us in September 2017 and has since placed over 150 Homefinder UK applicants into their properties. This includes many properties that are notoriously hard-to-let due to age and accessibility restrictions. So, what does Clarion’s collaboration with us look like?

Clarion’s partnership with us gives them access to a database of over 25,000 applicants. Clarion advertises properties on Homefinder UK website, which unlike Zoopla or Rightmove offers case management services to applicants of member organisations.

This means that Clarion receives a vetted shortlist of applicants that match their properties’ specification and restrictions enabling a streamlined selection process. Furthermore, our dedicated case managers liaise with Clarion staff, the applicants and sending local authorities to ensure a smooth transition into Clarion’s housing.

Once housed, Clarion's charitable foundation Clarion Futures has ensured that all their tenants are provided with the tools and support they need to overcome challenges and transform their lives. This includes helping jobless tenants into work through their national employment and training programme as well as teaching tenants money management and digital skills.

Case Study: mother of three delighted with the newfound space in her Middlesbrough home

Ms S and her three children had been living in an overcrowded flat unfit for her two sons’ complex medical needs. They were desperate for more suitable accommodation so went to their local authority Barking and Dagenham for assistance.

The housing officer at Barking and Dagenham was realistic with Ms S about the extremely long waiting list for social housing in London – five years wait for a three-bed. The housing officer also made Ms S aware of national mobility scheme Homefinder UK as an alternative to this long wait.

Ms S and her adult daughter were in fact keen to move out of London, so Barking and Dagenham, Homefinder UK and Clarion worked together resolutely to make this happen. After a couple of weeks Ms S was presented with the proposal of two nearby properties in Middlesbrough – one for her adult daughter and one for her and her two sons. Importantly for Ms S, Clarion had ensured that the properties were close to a specialised school for children with additional needs. Ms S was delighted with the proposal. A viewing was arranged shortly after and Ms S happily accepted. Ms S’ Homefinder UK case manager then helped her with all the required paperwork so Ms S and her family could move as soon as possible.

Ms S said of the move: “You’ve gone above and beyond enduring my anxious impatience and moaning. Thank you so much! We are really looking forward to moving in. You all deserve a bunch of flowers and chocolates for all you’ve done!”

Clarion Futures then worked with Ms to ensure she felt supported with her two sons’ medical needs and comfortable in her new area.
