Homefinder UK’s property search via voice assistant devices pilot is now live

12/08/2022
An Amazon Alexa device on a table. Homefinder UK’s property search via voice assistant devices pilot is now live.
Since we take innovation seriously at Homefinder UK, we constantly explore fresh approaches to employ the newest technology to enhance our services.

Homefinder UK is now testing a new method of conducting a home search after launching the first Choice Based Lettings mobile application, which allows potential tenants to explore available properties on the go and never miss another bidding cycle. Voice Assist is a new integration between Choice-Based Lettings and voice assistant devices made available by our parent company, Home Connections.

Introducing social housing property search via speech

Candidates can now utilise Amazon's Alexa technology through Homefinder UK to conduct voice searches for social housing. Individuals who have registered with Homefinder UK can ask Alexa to:
  • List available properties
  • Read out specific property details (bedroom size, rent, etc.)
  • Place new bids and withdraw old ones
The Voice Assist integration can particularly benefit people with visual impairment, providing them greater access to social housing. The social housing sector must embrace this technology to help this group of individuals avoid homelessness.

Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri are coming soon!

Only Amazon's Alexa platform is now supported by the Voice Assist integration, but we are currently working on adding support for Google Assistant and Apple's Siri.

Alongside the Voice Assist integration, our property adverts can also include videos and contact-free property viewing options, which can be accessible from anywhere, anytime.
