Homefinder UK is a national housing mobility scheme available to social housing landlords right across the UK. Social housing tenants, households in temporary accommodation or other groups of home seekers can be given access to the scheme by subscribing local authorities and housing associations.
Homefinder UK helps households who want or need to move to find a home that better matches their household size and personal and financial circumstances. Homefinder UK staff provide case management services to engage directly with homeseekers in order to broker the move.
Properties are made available by landlords and advertised at any time. Uniquely, we also offer mutual exchanges through integration with House Exchange and thereby gain access to the national Homeswap Direct service. By registering on Homefinder households are able to see all immediately available homes and mutual exchanges in the areas they wish to live. Households who need to relocate because of welfare reform may find housing opportunities in other parts of the country via Homefinder UK.
Homefinder UK works closely with landlords to identify available properties across the UK, and to develop partnerships with those landlords that wish to advertise their vacancies to a wider audience. Landlords who wish to participate are invited to contact Homefinder directly via email@example.com.
Since our launch in winter 2013 Homefinder UK has successfully helped many families to find new homes. To date over 5,000 households have registered for our service seeking a home. We are currently running a special offer that means all social landlords have the opportunity to advertise any immediately available properties on Homefinder UK at no cost or future obligation.
The Homefinder UK team will also case manage moves to parts of the country where properties are currently not advertised on the site. Tenants wishing to move for employment reasons can apply to join the scheme and access the ‘Right to Move’ properties which will in the future be advertised purely for employment related moves. Wheelchair Accessible properties will be increasing advertised in the future.
The service is delivered by Home Connections Lettings Ltd in partnership with House Exchange, part of Circle Housing. Homefinder UK is funded by local authorities and housing association partners whose tenants get access to the scheme free-of-charge.
